THE YMCA...MORE THAN A GYM, WE'RE A COMMUNITY!
The Fremont Family YMCA is proud to partner with various businesses and non-profits to provide outreach programs to enhance the health and wellbeing of the community.
We are blessed to have our partnership with the Fremont YMCA that offers our athletes a chance to improve their physical fitness and wellness with access to the best facilities around. Right now there are nearly 65 athletes that compete in a number of sports. On the Fremont Family YMCA campus, our athletes get to practice on the indoor tennis courts when the weather is bad and get their competitive swimming laps in the only Olympic sized pool in the area. Additionally, we utilize the basketball courts during the basketball season to work on our team skills and 5 on 5 teamwork. For over 10 years now, the Fremont YMCA has hosted the East Region basketball championships in late February. In the spring we work on volleyball to get ready for our competitions in April/May. The scholarship program that our athletes can take advantage of also allows our flag football, golf, and track athletes access to weight and cardio machines plus free weights to improve their strength, stamina, and flexibility in order to be the best athlete they can.
If you are interested in becoming a Fremont Special Olympics athlete or want to become involved in our program you can find out even more information by reaching us at www.facebook.com/SpecialOlympicsFremont or shoot us an email at email@example.com or you can even give us a call/text at 402-720-3121 and speak with Cory Piercy, Head of Delegation.

RTG First Grade Learn to Swim
The YMCA has partnered with RTG Medical to provide every first grader in the Fremont Public School system and Bergan Catholic School, the opportunity to learn to swim, as part of their physical education. RTG's generosity pays for the instructors, and for swim suits for kids who do not own one. They also give each child a towel at the end of the program. Last year over 350 children particpated in this program.
The YMCA and RTG Medical feel that it is imperative that every child knows how to swim. In the United States of America, drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death in children aged 1–14 years.
Second Grade Learn to Skate
The 2nd Grade Learn to Skate will be in its 13th year this season. Every year, approximately 300 2nd graders from all of the FPS schools come to the Sidner Ice Arena for 3 FREE skating lessons. Most of the lessons are finished up before Christmas break, so the kids can enjoy free skating during the holiday break. The Y is proud to offer this to the community as part of our dedicated effort to make Fremont STRONGER!
