DILLON FAMIY AQUATIC CENTER (DFAC)

FAMILY and KIDS OPEN SWIM HOURS
Sunday – 12:30-4 p.m.
Monday – 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Tuesday – 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Wednesday – 4-6:30 p.m.
Thursday – 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Friday – 4:30-7 p.m.
Saturday – 12:30-4 p.m.

Monday-Friday – 12 noon-3:30 p.m.
for adult supervised open swim five and under
(parent must be in water or Splash Pad with child)

Children six and under or any swimmer wearing a life jacket
must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older in the pool
within arms reach. A child wearing a life jacket is not allowed
beyond the four foot ropes.

LIFEGUARD/CPR RECERTIFICAITON CLASS

• Sunday, March 18, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., lifeguard and CPR
   Saturday, April 21, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., lifeguard and CPR

• This is a Red Cross lifeguarding class and includes . . .

A 300 yard swim where the students must demonstrate proficiency in both front crawl and breast stroke.    The swim must be continuous. There is no time limit.

Students will have 100 seconds to swim 20 yards, surface dive to the bottom of the 9 feet, retrieve a
10 lb. object, return 20 yards on the back and exit the pool.

Students must demonstrate the ability to tread water without using their hands for two minutes.

• Class enrollment – maximum of six students

• Class will be held at the FREMONT FAMILY YMCA, 810 N. Lincoln, Fremont, NE

• Things to bring to class each day – modest swimwear, towel, soap, shampoo, lock, snacks/drinks, lunch money if purchasing snacks/lunch out of facility, glasses or contact case/solution and a writing utensil. Course manual and masks will be provided at the beginning of the course.

• COST - $100 for FFY members, $125 for non-members

WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR CLASS

Friday, April 27, 2018, 5-9 p.m.; Saturday, April 28, 2018, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
You must attend all classes to be eligible for certification and complete all course work

You must be at least 16 years old on the first day of class

For class to be held there must be at least three registered with a maximum of 10

Cost - $150 for FFY members; $175 for non-members

PROGRESSIVE SWIM CLASSES

WATER DISCOVERY (6 to 18 months)
Parents accompany children in this class, which introduces infants and toddlers to the aquatic environment through exploration and encourages them to enjoy themselves while learning about the water.
A) Tuesday - 10:30-11 a.m.
B) Saturday - 9-9:30 a.m.

WATER EXPLORATION (18 months to 3 years old)
In this class, parents work with their children to explore body positions, floating, blowing bubbles and fundamental safety and aquatic skills
A) Monday - 10:30-11 a.m.
B) Monday - 5:35-6:05 p.m.
C) Thursday - 6-6:30 p.m.
D) Saturday - 9:40-10:10 a.m.

WATER ACCLIMATION
Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water in this class. This class lays the foundation that allows for a student’s future progress in swimming.

PRESCHOOL (ages 3-5 years)

B) Tuesday - 4-4:30 p.m.
C) Thursday - 4:40-5:10 p.m.

YOUTH (ages 6-15 years)

WATER MOVEMENT
In this class, students focus on body position and control, directional change and forward movement in the water while also continuing to practice how to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water.

PRESCHOOL (ages 3-5 years)

B) Thursday - 5:20-5:50 p.m.
C) Saturday - 10:20-10:50 a.m.

YOUTH (ages 6-15 years)

WATER STAMINA
In this class, students learn how to swim to safety from a longer distance than in previous classes in the event of falling into a body of water. This class also introduces rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action.

B) Thursday - 6-6:30 p.m.
C) Saturday - 9-9:30 a.m.

YOUTH (ages 6-15 years)

STROKE INTRODUCTION
Students in this class development stroke technique in front crawl and back crawl and learn the breaststroke kick and butterfly kick. Water safety is reinforced through treading water and elementary backstroke.

B) Thursday - 5:20-5:50 p.m.
C) Saturday - 11-11:30 a.m.

YOUTH (ages 6-15)

STROKE DEVELOPMENT
Students in this class work on stroke technique and learn all major competitive strokes. The emphasis on water safety continues through treading water and sidestroke.

YOUTH (ages 6-15 years)

B) Thursday - 4-4:30 p.m.
C) Thursday - 6:30-7 p.m.
D) Saturday - 9:40-10:10 a.m.

STROKE MECHANICS
In this class, students refine stroke technique on all major competitive strokes, learn about competitive swimming and discover how to incorporate swimming into a healthy lifestyle.

YOUTH (ages 6-15 years)
A) Monday - 6:15-6:45 p.m.
B) Tuesday - 4-4:30 p.m.
C) Thursday - 4:40-5:10 p.m.
D) Saturday - 10:20-10:50 a.m.

 

F.A.S.T. (Fremont Area Swim Team) SWIM TEAM

Begins Monday, August 21, 2017 for senior group (high school); Monday, September 11 for silver, gold and bronze group (middle school and younger)

Registration deadline – You can sign up anytime to participate on the swim team

Ages – Kindergarten through high school (you must be an FFY member to participate)

Parent’s meeting – Monday, August 28, 5:30-6 p.m., for senior group; Tuesday, September 5, 6-6:30 p.m., for silver, gold and bronze group

Cost - youth will be divided into four groups. Each participant must purchase a YMCA membership.

Bronze group cost (participants determined by age and/or ability) $20 per month per swimmer plus $5 coach’s travel fee.

Silver group cost (participants determined by age and/or ability) $30 per month per swimmer plus $5 coach’s travel fee.

Gold group cost (participants determined by age and/or ability) $60 per month per swimmer plus $5 coach’s travel fee. $48 per month per swimmer (for an additional sibling) plus $5 coach’s travel fee.

Senior group cost (high school swimmers)
$95 per month per swimmer plus $5 coach’s travel fee.
$76 per month per swimmer (for an additional sibling) plus $5 coach’s travel fee.

WHIRLPOOL

Located in the pool area, this co-ed facility is the best way to relax after a hard workout.  Adults only (18 and older).

POOL RULES

* Noodles, kickboards, pull buoys and water weights are for water fitness classes and swimming lessons only.  They are not to be used during open swim.

* In order for a youth to swim in the deep end or use the diving board outside of swimming lessons, he/she must be able to swim the width of the pool unassisted.

* No flips or back dives off of the diving board or pool deck.

* Youth 7 years old and younger must have an adult (18 and older) in the pool with them. 

BIRTHDAY POOL PARTIES

Pool parties can be scheduled during regular open swim times.  Private pool parties can also be scheduled, but you must allow at least two weeks notice so lifeguards can be scheduled.  Please make reservations at the Fremont Family YMCA font desk.  For prices and availability, please contact Claire Wray at the YMCA, 402-721-6952.
