Seeing stars. Sucking wind. This is how you know you're doing a Tabata workout correctly. At first glance you may wonder why anyone would intentionally do this to themselves, but there's a reason this type of high-intensity interval training is becoming the go-to workout not just for athletes. But it's worth it.

Doing as little as 4 minutes (or one "Tabata") can increase your aerobic capacity, anaerobic capacity, VO2 max, resting metabolic rate, and can help you burn more fat (and make you look 200-percent leaner) than a traditional 60-minute aerobic workout. That's right—4 minutes of Tabata can get you better fitness gains than an entire hour of running on the treadmill.

This BOOT CAMP is 45 minutes in length, but it isn’t going to be the high intensity the whole time. There is an 8 -10 minute warm up and 10 minute cool down. You are only working really hard for 25 minutes! Yes that is it 25 minutes!

This high-intensity training is fun, blasts calories, and moves so quickly that it's hard to get bored. For Tabata, you perform an exercise at maximal intensity for 20 seconds, followed by 10 seconds of rest. You repeat this on-off pattern a total of eight times, making one complete Tabata round four minutes.

BODY PUMP CLASS – just for TEENS (13-18 years old)
Fridays, May 30-August 1, 12 noon-1 p.m.
$10 day pass (each time you take a class) for non-members

Stay in shape over the summer and if you plan on participating in fall sports, this class will give you a head start.

FIRST CLASS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! This class will teach proper Body Pump form and techniques. To get the maximum benefit from this class, it is highly recommended that you attend the first class.

Registration for each Body Pump class will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the front desk. Only the first 30 registered can participate in that day’s class.


Group exercise classes are offered for both land and water.  All classes are free with your Fremont Family YMCA membership.

BARRE TONING - A ballet-inspired class using light weights and ballet bars to tone and strengthen the entire body. Cardio and strength training are both included to give you the lean muscle you are looking for! Also improve on flexibility. No dance experience required.

BODY PUMP - is the original barbell class that strengthens your entire body.  This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls.  Great music, awesome instructors and your choice of weight inspire you to the results you came for - and fast!  Like all the LES MILLS programs, a new BODYPUMP class is released every tree months with new music and choreography.

BODYPUMP™ EXPRESS - same as BodyPump™ only 45 minutes in length. Perfect for your lunch hour!

BODY FLOW - This is a yoga, Tai Chi and pilates workout that builds flexibility and strength, leaving you feeling centered and calm. It will help improve joint flexibility and range of motion, increase your core strength and reduce your stress levels. A new BODYFLOW class is released every three months with new music and choreography.

CARDIO CONDITIONING - What a great way to start your day! Increase your workout level in this energentic cardio class.

CYCLING - Cycling provides you with all the benefits of aerobic activity in a fun and supportive group setting.  Enjoy fast flats, standing and seated runs, sprints and intervals galore!  Go ahead & get your heart pumping.

CYCLING MIX - Pedal your way to a healthier life! This class combines energizing music with a unique workout to give you a great fitness workout with powerful results. The class uses varying speeds and resistance to provide you with a cariod challenge.

FOREVER FIT - A class designed for the active older adult but all ages are welcome!  It includes low impact aerobics, stretching and the usage of light hand weights.  This class helps keep muscles and bones strong and increases participants' balance, coordination and range of motion.  Enjoy easy-listening music and line dance steps.

GUTS AND BUTTS - YOu get 30 minutes of high intensity cardio step aerobics and 30 minutes of muscle toning and strengthening exercises all in one great class. Great for men and women.

HYDROCISE - Water exercises used for a head-to-toe workout incorporating circuit training along with resistive and cardiovascular conditioning.

KICKBOXING STEP - You'll get into shape with this invigorating, non-contact boxing workout.

KICK - SPIN - CORE - You'll get into shape with this invigorating class. Take steps to a new level by using an dome-shaped balance trainer. Add a new twist to your workouts by joining in this fun and challenging class. 20 minutes spinning, 20 minutes kickboxing and 20 minutes core. Get it all in a fun new workout.

PILATES - this class uses a series of exercises lying on a mat or using a stability ball to promote core strength, flexibility, good posture and improved body awareness.

QUICK KICK - A quick cardio class to get the heart rate up high in a fun way. An energetic class where you work every muscle.

SILVERSNEAKERS® - Have fun and move to music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance. Chairs are also used for seated and/or standing support.

TAI CHI - A class designed for any age. Tai Chi will increase flexibility, balance and relaxation.

TRIPLE THREAT - Sculpt the entire body and fuel your fitness level with ever-changing, unique combinations of cardio, strength and abdominal work.

ULTIMATE CARDIO - An energetic floor aerobics class that is great for all fitness levels.  You'll be sure to get a total body workout with a combination of cardiovascular training and toning exercises.

YOGILATES - Combines the best of both Yoga and Pilates in one terrific workout.  Stability balls and hand weight are also incorporated into the class.

ZUMBA - This Latin-inspired dance/fitness class incorporates high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations for a great cardio workout.  Add variety and fun to your routine.  All levels are welcome and no dance experience is required.

ZUMBA TONING - It combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cario work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness party. It's the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a total blast.

Group Exercise Rules and Information - We reserve the right to cancel or change a class format.  Classes are drop-in, first come, first served.

Youth Policy

    - Youth must be 14 years of age or older to enter the fitness studio

    - Youth 10-13 years of age are only allowed in the fitness studio if under the direct supervision of a parent/guardian

    - No one under 10 years of age is allowed in the fitness studio

Doctor's Permission - All exercise classes are strenuous in nature. Before beginning an exercise program you should consult your personal physician.

No Children Allowed in the Fitness Studio - Kidz Zone is available to parents at a cost of $1.50 per child per session.  Hours in the Kidz Zone are – Mon./Wed. 8 a.m.-12 noon; Tue./Thu./Fri. 8-11 a.m.; Monday-Thursday evenings 4:25-8 p.m.
